We were asked to help homing this little kitten rescued by tourists from Belgium in Ohrid, Macedonia. They found it yesterday, when it was all alone  crying for help… They waited a few hours to see if mum turned up, but she didn’t. Instead they saw two ferrets searching for food… Thirty minutes ago they handed over kitten Matka to Elizabeta of Rescue for Animals. She will stay with her till she is old enough to travel to Belgium. The kitten is called Matka, which means uterus but is also the name of a beautiful cave with water the colour of the kitten’s eyes.

Betty is a terrier mix breed, 7 years old, who was living in the streets of Skopje, Macedonia. She survived poisoning twice. In a few weeks time she grew this massive size tumor. At first it was thought it was a injury at the leg, that someone had hit her, but the visit to the vet showed she needed surgery ASAP. After 5 hours the entire tumor was removed. A sample was taken to histology test to determine malignant or benign tumor. The results from the test will determine her treatment. A nice woman is taking care of Betty now, but we urgently need donations to pay for the medical bills and recovery of Betty as well as for everyday sterile necessities. Dit is Betty, een X terrier van 7 jaar oud, die op straat in Skopje (Macedonië) leefde. Twee keer is ze vergiftigd en heeft ze het overleefd.  In enkele weken tijd ontstond deze grote tumor. Eerst dacht men aan een verwonding aan haar poot had, dat iemand haar had geslagen, maar bij de dierenarts bleek dat snel ingrijpen nodig was. Na een operatie van vijf uur was de tumor verwijderd. Het weefsel wordt nu onderzocht en als de uitslag bekend is, kan de behandeling worden ingezet. Een lieve vrouw zorgt nu voor Betty, maar er is dringend geld nodig voor de rekening van de dierenarts, haar vervolgbehandeling en de dagelijkse wondverzorging onder steriele omstandigheden. Yesterday it was D-day for handicapped cat Tokito. He left Angelcats Sanctuary in Skopje, Macedonia, for his new home at De Kattenbrigade in Belgium.

Ginger was hit by a car and found by one of the Blazevska sisters of Rescue for Animals in Bitola and Ohrid (Macedonia). She told us nothing can be done for him because the vets in Ohrid and Bitola (Macedonia) cannot make Xrays. After we posted about him on Facebook a lot of things happened. We talked with all parties involved and it boils down to the following:
1. Handicapped cat Tokito will leave Angelcats Sanctuary in Skopje this weekend without his wheelchair.
2. Tokito will be measured for a new wheelchair as soon as he has arrived at his new home in Belgium.
3. Tokito’s old wheelchair will go to Ginger.
4. Ginger will leave Rescue for Animals in Ohrid next monday for Skopje.
5. In Skopje he will go to the vet, have Xrays made.
6. Ginger will stay over at Angelcats Sanctuary as long as he is being treated at the vet clinic in Skopje.
7. Ginger will return to Rescue for Animals when his treatment has finished. Let’s keep our fingers crossed he will not need the wheelchair of Tokito.
This is a good show case of mutual aid, which Foundation Angel’s Choice advocates.

Ginger werd aangereden en daarna gevonden door een van de Blazevska zusters van Rescue for Animals in Bitola en Ohrid (Macedonië). Ze vertelde ons dat er niets voor hem kan worden gedaan,  omdat de dierenartsen in Ohrid en Bitola (Macedonië) geen röntgenfoto’s kunnen maken. Nadat we zijn foto op Facebook plaatsten, ging er een balletje rollen. Na met alle partijen te hebben gesproken komt het hierop neer:
1. De gehandicapte kat Tokito verlaat Angelcats Sanctuary in Skopje dit weekend zonder zijn rolstoel.
2. Tokito wordt opgemeten voor een nieuwe rolstoel zodra hij in zijn nieuwe huis in België is aangekomen.
3. De oude rolstoel van Tokito gaat naar Ginger.
4. Ginger verlaat Rescue for Animals in Ohrid a.s. maandag en gaat naar Skopje.
5. In Skopje worden er röntgenfoto’s gemaakt en wordt hij onderzocht.
6. Ginger verblijft bij Angelcats Sanctuary zo lang hij onder behandeling is in de dierenkliniek in Skopje.
7. Ginger gaat terug naar Rescue for Animals zodra zijn behandeling is afgerond.
Duimen jullie allemaal mee dat hij de rolstoel van Tokito dan niet meer nodig heeft?

Silvija (foster of Teo, Ava and Zaga) and Ivana (foster of Hana) found this mom and seven puppies somewhere in Skopje (Macedonia). They managed to find a home for this family for the next few weeks. Proceeds from Angel’s Choice shop pay for high protein food for her while she is nursing her  puppies and for her neutering when she is no longer nursing them. They have to get all the puppies adopted.  Mom Karma will stay with the person who was willing to take the whole family in. Please do some shopping yourself, so we can save more lives!

Belco was abandoned when he was about a year old. Almost four years he lived on the streets of Skopje (Macedonia) struggling to survive. After two years he was caught by the dog catchers and taken to the local public shelter Vardariste. Activists managed to get him out again. In may 2015 someone shot him. The activists found him and took him to the vet. The wound was serious and already infected. Belco had surgery in which the vet had to remove pieces of bone in the elbow and connect torn ligaments and the muscles. After almost a month and a half therapy he has recovered and feeling better. Now it is time to find him a home where he can be really loved and finally feel secure. Despite all he has been through he is a gentle dog who appreciates the company of humans and other dogs.

Belco werd in de steek gelaten toen hij ongeveer een jaar oud was. Bijna vier jaar heeft hij moeten vechten om te overleven in de straten van Skopje (Macedonië). Twee jaar geleden brachten de hondenvangers hem naar het plaatselijke asiel Vardariste. Maar dierenliefhebbers hebben hem weer eruit gehaald. In mei 2015 schoot iemand hem neer. Na een zoektocht brachten de activisten hem naar de dierenarts. Het was dringend, want de wond was al ontstoken. De dierenarts verwijderde enkele stukjes bot bij zijn elleboog en zette weefsel en spieren weer aan elkaar hechten. Het herstel duurde anderhalve maand en Belco is goed hersteld en voelt zich nu een stuk beter. Het is tijd dat hij naar een thuis gaat waar ze van hem houden en hij eindelijk veilig is. Ondanks alles wat hij heeft meegemaakt is het een zachtaardige hond die gesteld is op het gezelschap van mensen en andere honden.

Houdini is the first cat trapped with the cat trap cage we sent to Angelcats Sanctuary in Macedonia from the Netherlands. This feral cat will no longer give birth to kittens! 21 cats castrated since the campaign started!

Silvija, Ava’s foster mom, and a friend organised a fundraiser event at a cafe in Skopje, Macedonia. Ava and some puppies went with them. Ava really enjoyed all the attention and showing off her nice garments. Not much was donated, but they will try again.
