Kaja’s wheelchair has arrived! Yes, it has four wheels… this is because Kaja cannot use her front legs properly yet. This wheelchair will help her revalidating, getting the use of her front legs back again. And then she will be able to use a wheelchair with two wheels and be even more mobile again. We want to thank Candee from the USA for the generous donation. 

Kaja’s rolstoel is aangekomen! Ja, deze rolstoel heeft vier wielen… dit is omdat Kaja haar voorpoten nog niet goed kan gebruiken. Deze rolstoel helpt bij haar revalidatie. Als ze weer kracht in haar voorpoten heeft, dan kan ze een rolstoel met twee wielen gebruiken en nog mobieler worden. Bij dezen willen we Candee uit de VS bedanken voor haar grote donatie.

On the 25th of November Tom died. Animalia Ohrid found him not so long ago wandering the streets. Blind, deaf, with a tumor on his paw. They were going to make him strong again for surgery on his paw, but instead his condition became worse and worse. His body gave up. I so much wanted to find him a loving home to spend the last years of his life with lots of cuddles and tidbits. At least you didn’t die alone and unloved, because Vildana and Kliment took care of you in their shelter.
RIP sweet Tom!

The wheelchair for Tedy has arrived at her home in Skopje, Macedonia. It took her mom a while to get the red tape sorted out, but here it is. Thanks to the wonderful anonymous sponsor.
We can’t wait for pictures and videos of Tedy and her wheels. It probably will take her a while getting used to it, because she has been waiting for it for 2,5 years! Let’s not forget she is available for adoption, because her family wants her to have a better life than they can give her.

On the 23rd of November Belco, Mini and Ginger arrived in the Netherlands. Belco is the dog from Skopje that was shot in May last, had surgery, revalidated and is walking again. He was supposed to go to a forever home, but the adoption fell through. He is very sweet, social, ok with kids and cats… Mini is from Animalia Ohrid, one of the first dog that entered their shelter. Nobody in Macedonia wanted to adopt this sweet dog. She is in foster care now, getting used to living in a home with a family and waiting for her loving adopter to find her.
At Angelcats Sanctuary a miracle happened to Ginger: he was paralysed when he arrived but after some time and lots of TLC he started walking again. Unfortunately two snap tests confirmed he has FIV. He is in foster care now with a couple that already has some FIV cats. Like Belco and Mini he is waiting for his forever home.

Op 23 november kwamen Belco, Mini en Ginger in Nederland aan. Belco is de hond uit Skopje die in mei werd beschoten, werd geopereerd, revalideerd en weer loopt. Hij zou geadopteerd worden, maar dat ging niet door. Hij is erg lief, sociaal, goed met kinderen en katten…  Mini komt bij Animalia Ohrid vandaan, een van de eerste honden die in hun shelter belandde. Niemand in Macedonië wilde deze lieverd adopteren. Ze verblijft nu bij een opvanggezin, waar ze mag wennen aan het leven in een huis bij mensen in afwachting van de liefdevolle adoptant.
Bij Angelcats Sanctuary gebeurde er een wonder: Ginger was verlamd toen hij aankwam, maar na enige tijd en veel liefdevolle zorg ging hij weer lopen. Helaas wezen twee sneltesten uit dat hij FIV heeft. Hij woont nu bij een opvanggezin dat al enkele FIV-katten heeft. Net als Belco en Mini wacht hij op zijn gouden mandje.

Zaga is becoming more mobile! I wish she was offered a nice loving home in the Netherlands or Belgium with somebody who can take her to hydrotherapy and acupuncture. That will speed up her progress. She will make some family a very special pet!

Zage wordt steeds mobieler! Kreeg ze maar een fijn, liefdevol thuis aangeboden ergens in Nederland of België bij iemand die haar hydrotherapie en acupunctuur kan (laten) geven. Ze zal echt een waardevolle gezinsuitbreiding zijn!

Sometimes we receive a donation including items we cannot send to the animal rescue organisations in Macedonia for various reasons (too heavy, too big, not allowed to import, etc.). We always try and find another organisation abroad or in the Netherlands that can use it. A while ago Diana gave us the wheelchair of her deceased dog and some other items. These went to the private sanctuary of Jessica in Germany. Her handicapped dog Tzuki from Bukarest didn’t have his own wheelchair yet. It needed some adaptation and now it is ready for use. Isn’t it great the way we can help each other helping animals?!

Tomce loves his wheelchair because he can go for walks with his friends. But we think that if he gets the right therapy he won’t need them anymore. He can stand on all fours and he wants to use his hind legs… Please consider adopting him and giving him a chance to walk on all fours again. Tomce is gek op zijn rolstoel, omdat hij daardoor met zijn vriendjes kan gaan wandelen. Maar we denken dat hij zijn rolstoel niet meer nodig heeft als hij de juiste therapie krijgt. Hij kan op alle vier zijn poten staan en hij wil zijn achterpoten gebruiken… Wie wil hem adopteren en hem de kans om weer gewoon te lopen geven? Till a few days ago Dog Rescue Gastarovska only had pages for special dogs like handicapped Teo, Zaga and Kaja, but Silvija Gastarovska takes care of more dogs than these. Wonderful news: Boy has completely recovered from his injuries. He arrived at the vet clinic of Marin in Skopje, Macedonia, just over one month ago after he had been lying immobile on the streets for five days. He had been hit by a car and surely would have died if Silvija had not rescued him. Also big thanks to the people who donated for his therapy and stay at the vet clinic: Anonymous and Agnes. He was neutered before he went back outside again, because there was no other place for him to go. He will be supervised by several people. Silvija is trying to find him a real home, because he is really a sweet big dog. If anyone of you is interested in adopting him, please let us know!
