Today Sweety left her foster home with Monique and Fred. Her new dad Wessel came to pick her up to take her to her forever home, also in the Netherlands. Have a happy life, Sweety girl! Thank you Monique and Fred for fostering her. Thank you Mirte Madelief and Wessel for adopting her.

Tom was found wandering the streets of Ohrid. Abandoned after living indoors for 6 or 7 years. He is blind, deaf, skinny and has a tumour on one of his paws. Animalia Ohrid takes care of him now and we are looking for somebody who will take care of him for the rest of his life. As soon as his condition is better the tumour will be removed. Donations are needed to pay for his medical care!

We have been very lucky because we received several boxes of Beaphar products and a donation to buy dog coats. But please don’t think that we no longer need donations…. every month money is needed for food, vaccinations, medical care and other necessities. At the shelter of Animalia Ohrid there are about 40 dogs now (including Mona’s puppies) and more on their way, at Rescue for Animals in Bitola and Ohrid there are over 90 dogs and cats, Angelcats Sanctuary in Skopje takes care of over 50 cats (in their sanctuary and in the streets) plus Nena and her puppies, Silvija Gastarovska in Skopje takes care of four handicapped dogs, several smaller dogs and has boxes full of newborn puppies dropped at her doorstep every few weeks. Buying items from Angel’s Choice shop gives us money that is passed on to the animal rescues organisations and individuals that Angel’s Choice supports. Some of the items (mainly jewelry) are put up for sale by animal rescuers themselves from their own collection or hand made. In June a couple from the Netherlands visited Ohrid, Macedonia. Near their hotel lived a beautiful dog on the streets. She was about six months old and looking for love and food. The couple fell in love with the dog and when they have to fly home again, they asked a local to take care of the dog. They gave him money for food, medical care, neutering and transport to the Netherlands. Weeks passed by, months passed by, Mona the dog did no fly to her forever home. In September Animalia Ohrid were asked for help to get Mona to the Netherlands. Animalia asked Angel’s Choice for help to organize transport. Mona was going to be on the last flight of this year from Ohrid to Amsterdam. But then the local man dropped a bomb: Mona was pregnant. An echo at the vet confirmed she was about 30 days pregnant. She was brought to the shelter of Animalia to be fostered. Yesterday she gave birth to 10 puppies. All very sweet and endearing, but it would have been better if they had not been born. If the local man had fulfilled his promise and had Mona neutered. Now Animalia has to find a home for 10 puppies. Mona will travel to the Netherlands when the puppies are weaned. Irresponsible behaviour like this makes me furious.

Handicapped Zaga was castrated two weeks ago. After the castration she seems to be more mobile than ever since she was found paralysed near the graveyard of Skopje, Macedonia. Let’s hope progress continues.
And let’s hope she will find a loving forever home in Western Europe soon.

Gehandicapte Zaga werd twee weken geleden gecastreerd. Het lijkt wel alsof ze na de castratie meer in beweging is dan ooit sinds ze verlamd werd gevonden bij de begraafplaats van Skopje, Macedonië. Laten we hopen dat ze nog verder vooruit gaat. En laten we vooral ook hopen dat ze gauw een liefdevol eigen thuis vindt in West-Europa.

On happy days we receive donations: money and sometimes items the animal rescuers need badly. And another dog that needs our help: Boy. Hit by a car. Left immobilized in the streets of Skopje, Macedonia, for five days! Left to die. Left to rot. Nobody wanted to help this poor soul. Silvija cannot foster another handicapped dog since she already has three: Teo, Zaga and the new one Kaja. She took Boy to vet Marin. Xrays were made: thoracic spinal stenosis and an injury to the pelvis. He didn’t want to eat, so he got IV with fluids and nutritients. Handicapped Bino from Rescue for Animals in Bitola, Macedonia, has travelled to his new home. I was so happy to finally hold him at Schiphol Airport. He slept on the bed in his new home and snored away. Thanks to all the people who donated towards his transport. Without you this would not have been possible.

Gehandicapte Bino van Rescue for Animals in Bitola, Macedonië, is inmiddels aangekomen in zijn nieuwe huisje. Ik was zo blij dat ik hem eindelijk in mijn armen mocht houden op Schiphol. Hij mocht lekker op bed slapen in zijn nieuwe huis en snurkte erop los. Hartelijk dank aan alle mensen die hebben meebetaald aan zijn transport. Zonder jullie zou dit niet mogelijk zijn geweest.

Happy news: Son Ce has recovered substantially from his paralysis while being cared for at the home of a volunteer of Animalia Ohrid, Macedonia. And he was adopted by a woman who loves cats.
We have stopped the fundraiser, because there is no need for further medical expense. The amount that has been raised, 50 euro in total, has been used for his medical and daily care. Thank you, dear supporters!

Goed nieuws: Son Ce is grotendeels hersteld van zijn verlamming terwijl hij werd verzorgd door een van de vrijwilligers van Animalia Ohrid in Macedonië. En hij werd geadopteerd door een vrouw die gek is op katten.
We hebben zijn fundraiser stopgezet, omdat er geen verdere medische kosten zullen zijn. Het bedrag dat is opgebracht, 50 euro totaal, is gebruikt voor zijn medische en dagelijkse verzorging. Hartelijk dank, lieve donateurs!

After Ava left her home Silvija Gastarovska in Skopje, Macedonia, decided to take in a dog that had been living for some time in a court yard. Unable to use her legs. First she had a fractured pelvis and when things started looking better, she had an ehrlichia infection and lost the use of all her legs.
